Mushroom Garlic Bread
Savory mushrooms, onions, and garlic piled onto crispy bread.
Ingredients
- ·1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch pieces
- ·1 small onion, finely diced
- ·1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ·2 cups mushrooms, thinly sliced
- ·3 cloves garlic, minced
- ·2 tbsp butter
- ·2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped, plus more for garnish
- ·2 tbsp olive oil, for brushing the bread
- ·½ tsp salt, or to taste
- ·¼ tsp black pepper, or to taste
- ·¼ tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- 2
Slice the baguette into even ½-inch pieces and place them on a baking sheet.
- 3
Brush each slice lightly with olive oil, then bake for 3–4 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted but not fully crisp.
- 4
While the bread is toasting, melt the butter in a pan over medium-high heat.
- 5
Add the diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until translucent.
- 6
Add the sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and most of the moisture has evaporated.
- 7
Stir in the chopped parsley, then remove the pan from the heat.
- 8
Spoon the mushroom and onion mixture evenly over the toasted baguette slices.
- 9
Top each piece generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 10
Return the assembled bread to the oven and bake for 7–8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 11
Garnish with extra fresh parsley and serve warm.
